Over 500 people, including military families, friends and volunteers attended the annual USO Wisconsin Operation Christmas on Dec. 9. Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett was also in attendance.
The City of Milwaukee and the Milwaukee Brewers Community Foundation donated more than $10,000 in gifts. Starbucks brought hot chocolate, cookies, and presents that were collected in bins at their stores throughout the state. Palermo’s Pizza contributed more than 100 pizzas baked in their pizza ovens. The Milwaukee Bucks provided hats, shirts, fidget spinners and balls for kids and adults. Props Unlimited allowed the USO to use their large holiday fixtures to create a “winter wonderland” at the Milwaukee County War Memorial.
Additional volunteer groups included Breakthrough Beverage, Kenosha Unified School District, Paradies Shops, MillerCoors, WaterStone Bank, U.S. Bank and Direct Supply.
